Chocoholic Snakeroot also known as bugbane is a snakeroot with deep burgundy deeply divided foliage. We adore the foliage for the new dimension of color it will add to your part sun to shade locations in the garden. In late summer the blooms which have a light butterscotch fragrance appear with spires of light pink to white blooms. Looks stunning when planted with plants that have golden blooms and or/ foliage.
This shade loving perennial is moisture tolerant and deer resistant.Growing tall up to 6′ in the right condition, Chocoholic will be best placed in the back of the shade garden or perennial border. Although Chocoholic Snakeroot tolerates shade, it will need some sun through the day to bring out the beautiful deep burgundy foliage. When placed in too much shade the foliage will be more dark green than burgundy.
